Information for Applying Students

Applicants to the MA and ML programs are required to register for an online Latin entrance exam by emailing Dr. Velvet Yates, Distance Learning Director, no later than Friday, January 30, 2015. MA and ML Applicants will then be provided instructions for taking the Latin exam during the weekend of February 7-8, 2015. The exam will be a sight translation and parsing exam, lasting two hours, that can be taken online at any time during February 7-8. A sample exam is available upon request. Applicants will be able to take a practice online exam several days before taking the official online exam.

Applicants to the PhD program are required to complete an on-campus visit before the application deadline. Please allow at least a half-day for this visit, which will include a 90-minute sight translation exam of standard Latin authors, and short interviews with the Director and available faculty. A sample exam is available upon request.

Upon admission into the distance learning program, entering students are required to attend the Summer Latin Institute, held at the University of Florida in Gainesville, July 6-16, 2015.

To ensure full consideration, applications and all supporting materials should be received no later than Friday, February 27, 2015 (see application checklist below). Please request official transcripts from your institution well in advance of this deadline.
