UF’s Second Annual Certamen

Thanks to our undergraduates Jonathan Nunes, Ellie Riggs, and Eric Yang for organizing UF’s second annual Certamen with great success. On Saturday March 1, nine Florida high schools sent Latin students to UF to compete in the quiz-bowl style game that tests students’ knowledge in language, literature, culture, history, etymology, and art history.

Oak Hall School won the Novice and Intermediate levels, among eight novice teams and six intermediate teams. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy team won Advanced level, competing among nine teams.

Special thanks to Dr. Andy Nichols, Azaria Chamorro, Srija Dey, Dr. Victoria Pagán and Anthony Smith for volunteering.
